Maintenance Technician — Full-Time or Part-Time

Alper JCC Miami is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our campus safe, welcoming, and ready for daily programs and events. This role combines general repairs, painting, preventive maintenance, and room setups in an active community environment.

What You’ll Do:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the campus.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs involving faucets, valves, toilets, sinks, and drain lines.
- Handle basic electrical maintenance, such as switches, outlets, and lighting components, within your training and authorized responsibilities.
- Patch drywall, prepare surfaces, paint, and replace ceiling tiles.
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for programs, meetings, and events.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Identify and report maintenance needs, equipment problems, and safety concerns.
- Keep tools, storage areas, and workspaces organized and clean.
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
- Assist other departments with campus needs and complete additional duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Basic maintenance and repair skills, including painting, plumbing, electrical, and general handyman work.
- Familiarity with common tools and maintenance equipment.
- Dependability, attention to detail, and a willingness to help.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and contribute to a team.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks and adapt when priorities change.
- A professional, courteous approach when working around staff, members, children, and visitors.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and understand written directions and verbal safety instructions. Additional language skills are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or a similar hands-on role preferred.
Schedule:
Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Schedule flexibility is required, including evening and weekend availability to support campus operations and events.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This is an active role that involves working throughout the campus, both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Essential duties include:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, reaching overhead, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and occasionally working in confined or awkward spaces.
- Regularly lifting and moving items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
- Moving, stacking, and transporting tables, chairs, and equipment using carts.
- Climbing and working on ladders and using lifts with appropriate training and safety procedures.
- Using tools and equipment that require hand coordination and repetitive movements.
- Working around noise, varying lighting conditions, and maintenance-related hazards while following established safety procedures.
