Event Services Associate

Position Summary:
Alper JCC Miami is seeking an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Event Services Associate to support facility rentals, special events, and campus programming. This is a hands-on position responsible for the setup, support, breakdown, and cleanup of event spaces throughout our campus.

The Event Services Associate serves as the on-site representative of Alper JCC Miami during events and rentals, assisting guests, renters, and vendors while ensuring spaces are properly prepared, maintained, and restored after each event. The ideal candidate is professional, physically active, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can quickly solve problems as they arise.

Please note: This position is primarily scheduled during evenings and weekends, when most facility rentals and special events occur.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Set up and break down event spaces according to room layouts and event specifications.
  • Move, arrange, and store tables, chairs, staging, equipment, and other event furnishings.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for renters, vendors, and event hosts during events.
  • Conduct pre-event walkthroughs to ensure spaces are prepared and ready for guests.
  • Respond to event-related needs and resolve issues quickly, professionally, and independently.
  • Assist with events throughout the campus, including banquet spaces, meeting rooms, theater venues, pool areas, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other indoor and outdoor locations.
  • Monitor event spaces throughout rentals to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with facility policies.
  • Communicate effectively with facilities, security, custodial, and program staff to support successful events.
  • Clean and reset event spaces following events, including removing trash, wiping down tables and surfaces, sweeping as needed, and returning furniture and equipment to designated storage areas.
  • Ensure all event spaces are left clean, organized, and ready for the next scheduled event, rental, or program.
  • Maintain event equipment and storage areas in an organized and professional manner.
  • Assist with general event operations and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Previous experience in event operations, hospitality, facilities, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the moment.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to move tables, chairs, staging, and event equipment throughout the campus.
  • Ability to perform event cleanup duties, including trash removal, cleaning tables and chairs, and preparing spaces for the next event or program.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain.
  • Ability to walk extensively between buildings and event locations during shifts.

Schedule Requirements:
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required, as most events take place outside of normal business hours.
  • Schedule will vary based on the event calendar and facility rental schedule.
  • Must be flexible and available to support events during peak periods and special events.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable helping a renter troubleshoot an issue, setting up a room for an event, moving furniture, cleaning a venue after a party, or supporting a large campus-wide event.
