Dave & Mary Alper JCC Miami
Full-Time | Year-Round | Reports to Youth Director
The Dave & Mary Alper JCC Miami is seeking an organized, creative, and engaged Camp Manager to lead summer camp, mini-camps, and school-day-off programs. The Camp Manager works closely with the Aftercare Manager as part of one youth team. When camp is in session, the Aftercare Manager supports camp operations. During the school year, the Camp Manager supports aftercare while preparing for upcoming camps.
What You’ll Do:
Camp Planning and Operations:

- Develop engaging, age-appropriate activities, themes, schedules, and special events that reflect children’s interests and support friendships, confidence, and skill development.
- Coordinate staffing, group assignments, supplies, activity spaces, vendors, and daily logistics.
- Oversee arrival, dismissal, attendance, transitions, and camper supervision.
- Work with the Youth Director to develop camp budgets, monitor expenses, and make purchases within approved guidelines.
- Gather feedback from families and staff and use it to improve future programs.
Staff Leadership:
- Partner with the Youth Director and Human Resources to recruit, interview, and onboard camp staff.
- Train, schedule, supervise, and coach counselors, specialists, and inclusion staff.
- Set clear expectations for safety, professionalism, engagement, and positive behavior support.
- Stay actively involved throughout the camp day, providing practical support and addressing concerns promptly.
- Coordinate with the Aftercare Manager on shared staffing, coverage, and consistent expectations across programs.
Special Needs and Inclusion:
- Oversee inclusion support within all camp programs so children with disabilities and additional support needs can participate meaningfully.
- Meet with families before camp to understand each child’s strengths, needs, routines, and support strategies.
- Coordinate individualized camper support plans with families, the Youth Director, and appropriate support professionals.
- Help staff adapt activities, instructions, schedules, and environments to meet campers’ needs.
- Train and coach staff on inclusive practices, positive behavior support, and responding appropriately to challenging situations.
- Maintain confidential documentation and communicate regularly with families about successes, concerns, and needed adjustments.
- Partner with the Aftercare Manager to support continuity for children participating in both programs.
Family Communication and Program Support:
- Build strong relationships with families through clear, timely communication and responsive follow-up.
- Assist with enrollment questions, camp tours, orientation, and outreach.
- Coordinate with administrative and marketing staff to ensure families receive accurate program information.
- Maintain required attendance, incident, and program records and support grant and funding reports.
- Follow applicable licensing, safety, and organizational requirements and promptly report concerns.
- Support aftercare supervision, activities, inclusion needs, and daily operations when camp is not in session.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least three years of experience in camp, youth programming, education, or a related setting, including staff supervision and camp leadership experience.
- Experience working with children with disabilities and implementing inclusive activities and positive behavior support.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, recreation, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage advance planning alongside daily program needs.
- Clear communication, sound judgment, and a calm, constructive approach to challenges.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and camp registration or program management systems.
- Willingness to collaborate, step into program activities, and support the broader youth team.
- Commitment to the JCC’s mission, Jewish values, and welcoming community.
- Ability to complete required background screenings and training and obtain or maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

Work includes indoor and outdoor activities, moving throughout campus, supervising active groups, and assisting with program setup. Essential duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
